Yes, I do live in the middle of Utah now. But I’ve been back home in the San Francisco Bay Area every month or so for the last year-ish, often making special “one night only” trips just to rehearse with this crazy cast of characters now known as Project Vox (formerly Outta Da Vox). We’re a mostly A Capella Vocal Improvisation Octet of veteran singers who create compelling pieces on the spot. So while we work hard to put together a great show, we’ll be on the edge of our seats right along with you as it happens.
We had our first gig in June at The Monkey House in Berkeley and it was an absolute blast! We had a standing room only crowd turn out for the hottest day of the year, and it was a hot show indeed. We actually sold out and had to turn people away at the door, not at all what we expected for our humble first outing. So we’re pretty stoked for upcoming gigs #2 & #3, also in the SF Bay Area.
Please come out to support very live music on Friday, December 8th at The Back Room in Berkeley and Sunday, December 10th at the San Geronimo Community Presbyterian Church in West Marin (extra bonus points if you can find a Presbyterian to bring with you!)
You’ll hear lip-defying percussion, bass, synth, horns, guitar, and who knows what else alongside sung stories, compelling spoken word, crazy characters, and other profound, profane, musical, and meaningful moments. Our enlivened team is Michael Smolens, Renée Benmeleh, Pollyanna Bush, Stephen Iverson, Reina Lam, Molly Ann Graceland, Nate Dewart, and of course your humble favorite Sam Rogers (aka The One Mouth Band).
