Counting up 2025

I’ve been having a blast writing the “Signals & Subtractions” newsletter every week, which you can find at my SnapSynapse.com website, Substack, and LinkedIn.

And an extra benefit of this is that it’s forced me to be explicit about what signals I’m tracking and what I’m subtracting in the rest of my life. This is an example of what Signals & Subtractions looks like when I apply it. Not a measure of activity, but a measure of output.

In 2025, I shipped a lot of things. Most were not in the plan this time a year ago.

  • 55 daily posts on PAICE.work/blog
  • 48 local musical performances (7 different acts)
  • 44 blog posts here on Sam-Rogers.com
  • 31 Signals & Subtractions newsletters
  • 22 Semantics Complete videos
  • 14 new/rebooted websites
  • 10 new github projects (277 commits)
  • 5 AI tools released
  • 5 podcast interviews
  • 2 whitepapers released
  • 1 new company launched

None of this, by itself, is a strategy. It’s evidence. It shows what I’m capable of sustaining, what compounds, and what quietly drains energy without returning much signal.

To protect the signal, I’m pausing everything that doesn’t directly compound. No matter how much I may like it.

Until further notice, that means pruning:

  • Musical performances
  • Blog posts on Sam-Rogers.com (yeah, for a while sorry)
  • Semantics Complete videos
  • Any new websites
  • Any new AI tools
  • Any new companies

What remains is the smallest surface area that still moves the system:

  1. Blog posts for PAICE.work (every weekday)
  2. Signals & Subtractions (every Monday)
  3. podcast interviews & published articles (2–3 per month)
  4. whitepapers (1 per month)

And for 2026, I’m deliberately adding back one thing I had sworn off for a while: 5. Facilitated trainings (1 per month)

Subtraction isn’t doing less. It’s choosing what gets to continue.

I really want to come back to posting here in 2026, in much the same way that I want to do more musical performances which I’ve loved bringing back all through 2025. But this isn’t just about what I like or what I want. It’s about what works. And right now all my energy is going into work via my new startup PAICE.work and my existing business Snap Synapse.

That’s plenty! So that’s what I need to put my full weight into for a bit. At least until I get enough market traction/cashflow and/or seed funding to hire others to help pursue the PAICE.work vision. Once that’s achieved, I’ll revisit the indulgence of posting here again.

Until then, wishing you a Happy New Year!
