Here is my Now page for July 9th 2022. For my current Now page, go here.

  1. Expert Witness work
I never know when I’m going to get a call about being an expert witness in a lawsuit. I often go many months without hearing from anyone, and then I get 5 calls in the span of a month. That’s last month! Some are wanting to leverage my expertise in training systems, others for video production, others for the YouTube platform. It looks like at least one of those inquiries is now moving forward. Of course I can’t tell you anything about it, other than it is a very interesting case indeed, and I’m glad the lawyers found me. This is my nights and weekends around my more-than-full-time job with Convatec.

  2. Network overhaul
After over 6-months of supply chain delays the [Ubiquiti Dream Machine](https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-unifi-os- consoles/products/udm-us) is finally back in stock, and I just got mine. Now I’ve gotta revisit my entire multi-home/office network setup to make it the heart of everything, and get it to play nicely with my beloved Synology NAS. and mad-science Raspberry Pi projects.

  3. Legal & Finance catchup
Had to file a tax extension this year, and am just finishing everything up for business/personal for 2021 now. I’m using this and my Convatec 2-year anniversary to revisit all my legal and financial needs and make sure it all makes sense for where we are now in history, and where we’re headed. And of course, things are continuing to drag on and on and on with all the legal/financial stuff do with my Mom’s passing. I keep thinking I’m almost done, keep being quite wrong about that, and keep just chipping away as I can.

  4. Preparing for Panama trip
Next month I’ll be making my annual visit to Panama to keep my residency visa current, finally obtain my Panamanian driver’s license, and start looking at properties there that I’m considering investing in. I’m particularly interested in the Pacific side, in the beaches areas between Buenaventura & Chame (right in the center of the country, not far from Panama City), and also David & Boquete in the mountains to the west (near the Costa Rican border). I’ve maintained but never owned property anywhere, and I’m thinking of this as a long-term investment and looking for a cash-flow positive rental that could possibly be a future home for Denise and I. This month I’m trying to line everything up in advance with the lawyers and get prequalified for a mortgage loan.

Still on hold for the moment is [buying a plane](https://sam- rogers.com/evaluating-a-cessna-150) which I’ll probably come back to again after I know if I’m investing in a property or not. The down payment for a rental property in Panama is roughly equivalent to buying a 50-year old two- seat airplane. As much as I’d like to afford both at the same time, it’ll have to be one or the other.

More news as I have it! But later, not now.
