Now Archive: December 2022
_This is my Now page and here’s what’s up for me these days as of December 3rd, 2022. For my current Now page, go here.
If you’ve not checked in on me lately, the big news is that I’m stepping away from the professional world for a while to better care for family needs.
And since I’m no longer a member of the working world, everybody seems to want to know what I’m doing. Here goes my current answer to that:
- Providing care for a dying family member. It’s working, it’s no fun for anyone, and it’s absolutely worth it.
- Mom stuff close out. It’s less than two-weeks away from the first anniversary of my mother’s passing, and I’m still dealing with closing things out on her behalf. It all falls to me. I was really hoping to get everything done within a year, and it might still be possible, though it looks like it may stretch into next year. I’m trying my very, very best to get everything legally and financially done this month. The emotional parts keep coming in waves, and I find are best experienced without the logistics layer.
- Reducing my digital footprint and closing out everything I can for myself as well. I’m requesting personal data, deleting accounts, and purging content left and right to consolidate and make intentional my own online presence. Tending to my mom’s digital footprint has really opened my eyes to some things that I kinda suspected about how all our data is used, and the current & future impacts of this that I can no longer ignore.
- Building a Second Brain which is a colossal update to the foundations of all my systems. As a self-proclaimed productivity geek for 25+ years, I’ve got a lot to rethink and overhaul. I’m building with security first this time too.
- Drop2022 or my 2022 instance of my annual Drop100 project. The number isn’t exact this time, but it’s also probably not far off. I’m literally doing/deleting (but mostly deleting) 2000+ tracked projects and discrete tasks to clear space as I’m building my second brain. Post-pandemic, this kind of deep dive is definitely overdue.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, and hoping you get to spend it with some family and friends that you truly care for. That’s it for now for me for Now!
