Now Archive: September 2024
_This is my Now page and here’s what’s up for me these days as of September 1st, 2024. For my current Now page, go here.
- Road Trip = Denise and I are heading out for our first out-of-state travel trailer trip to visit family in Oregon & California…and attend my 30th high school reunion! Unfortunately, since we we have to cram everything into 10 days from start to finish and have a few thousand miles of ground to cover, we won’t be able to visit as many people as we’d like. But we’re really looking forward to it all the same.
- Physical Optimizations = I’m fairly healthy, and tend to eat fairly well and get moderate exercise most every day. That said, I have some COVID-era weight that hasn’t fallen off yet, and all indicators are that there’s about 30lbs more of me than there should be. After getting back from our trip, both Denise and I will be doing some serious physical optimizations. Last month we joined Upgrade Labs (and met founder Dave Asprey!), and this month we’re starting in on Bryan Johnson’s Blueprint. Diet and exercise for the purposes of longevity and healthspan are going hardcore here in September!
- Considering Cofoundership = I may (or may not) become a cofounder of a new pay transparency startup this month. Though I need to do more competitive analysis, the market research and domain expertise I already have tell me it’s a really, really good idea! Learning from past mistakes, I’m trying not to jump in with both feet too early because I also have other things that I’m up to and I know what a startup takes. It’s super exciting though, and I have a great relationship with brilliant guy starting it up. Stay tuned, there will be more news one way or the other a month from now.
- Documentation Spree = In my Snap Synapse consulting work with The National 4-H Council, this month I’m focused on closing out the legacy chaos and starting anew with a fresh approach to Project Management, metrics, and documentation. Basically, I’m starting over with it all, post-reorg. While I do hope that this contract continues for the foreseeable future, I’m working toward making myself redundant now, as any good consultant should always do.
- Two Learning Goalposts = I’ve been implementing LMSs for over 20 years and a blockchain advocate for over 10 years, and this month I’m moving two goals forward. 1) I’m planning to make my Docebo LMS knowledge official by earning my Docebo Pro certification; and 2) I’m ramping up on the current state of crypto before attending my first crypto conference next month. I hope that my more recognizable entry into both communities will open up new levels of contribution in each.
Thanks for checking in. Want to let me know what you’re up to? Got suggestions on what I might want to tackle in the future? Let me know here.
