Now Archive: February 2025
_This is my Now page and here’s what’s up for me these days as of February 1st, 2025. For my current Now page, go here.
- Essentialism90 = I’m a month in and still working steadfastly with a small group of friends from the GoGoDone community on Greg McKeown’s The Essentialism Planner for the next 60 days. It’s not been easy, but is has been incredibly worthwhile. Though we’re not really doing this by the book, using that structure daily has proven even more helpful than we expected. I hope to have more to share about this experience next month.
- Music, Music, & more MUSIC! = One of the things I noticed in my 2024 end of year review is just how much of a difference it makes to me when I’m actively engaged in making music with others. I set an intention of welcoming music back into my life, BLAMO! Oh, it’s back alright! In the last week or so, I’ve played Taiko, provided handpan accompaniment for guided meditation, led the music (berimbau & conga while singing) for a local capoeira group, traveled to San Francisco to rehearse for a rekindling improv vocal project there, started leading Journeys In Rhythm again (drawing upon my experience with TaKeTiNa & Circlesong), and rehearsed as part of a new jazz trio I’m fronting (and uh, backing too, I guess) – we’re playing 2 gigs of swing & bossa love songs for Valentine’s day! I’m surprised and grateful that this has come so fast. It’s felt so good that I’m now considering music practice & performance as a part of my health habits. Those are going great to by the way.
- Website reboots = This month I’m planning to backfill this website with a ton more content that didn’t make the jump to this new platform. I’ve been posting to this site for 25 years now, so there’s lots more that I could carry over…but I kinda have to read through it first and make sure it’s what I want to have out there in 2025. Plus, now that I’m making music and leading rhythm circles again, I’m bringing back JourneysInRhythm.com, so I’ve got all that back content to sift through and rebuild as well. And then there’s my company website, SnapSynapse.com, which could also use a bit of a refresh. And my wife’s website, which needs a total rebuild from the ground up. One website a week for the next 4 weeks is my goal.
I usually list my top 5 things here. But in the spirit of less, only 3 this month.
Thanks for checking in. Want to let me know what you’re up to? Got suggestions on what I might want to tackle in the future? Let me know here.
