Now Archive: April 2025
_This is my Now page and here’s what’s up for me these days as of March 31st, 2025. For my current Now page, go here.
- NAB Show = Denise and I are stopping by the National Association of Broadcasters conference & expo this year to help our friend Kelly Orchard launch her new radio industry themed psychological thriller Dead Air: The Day The Music Died. I’ll also be exploring some new business opportunities, and checking out all the shiny new toys and workflows in media production with this quick trip to Vegas. I’ve been away from this world for a while, but grew up in it and love to geek out about everything audio & video.
- Performances = Tomorrow I’m leading a Journeys In Rhythm community event, on the 18th I’m singing jazz and bossa standards again with the Sammy G trio, on the 23rd I’m playing handpan & singing bowls for a sound healing and guided meditation session again, on the 25th I’m playing chudaiko with Manti Taiko at our county home and garden festival, then the next day singing with a different jazz pianist for a different local festival, and finally on the 30th co-leading an “Intro to Chant” workshop with my wife. In between all that, playing berimbau, pandeiro, cajon, conga, and leading our local capoeira group in song every Saturday morning. All these events are local, none are recorded, and most of the details are available over at SanpeteHeartbeat.com. After a career of touring, recording, and promoting everything I was doing (then taking an unexpected break for five years!), it’s really nice to start up again differently. Purely local community building, and just because I like to.
- First camping of the season = Weather permitting, we’ll be running through our annual maintenance checklists and taking our trailer out for its first 2025 outings. Likely we won’t go far, but this time of year in central Utah is truly beautiful, so we don’t have to!
- Business Pivot = This month sees the 21st anniversary of my company, Snap Synapse. It’s old enough to drink now! And if it could, it’d be hitting the bottle over all the changes going on in Learning and Development & HR. Instead of letting that happen, I’ll be making a proactive and conscious shift toward helping clients better leverage their data and optimize their workflows for automation. I’ve got quite a few ideas to test and iterate into before solidifying the approach by the end of the month.
- Taxes = Yeah, it’s that time again isn’t it? Whee!
Thanks for checking in. Want to let me know what you’re up to? Got suggestions on what I might want to tackle in the future? Let me know here.
