Now Archive: May 2025
_This is my Now page and here’s what’s up for me these days as of May 2nd, 2025. For my current Now page, go here.
- Canon Forge = I wrote a whole post on this one here. I’ve determined it’s a pre-requisite for the business pivot I’ve mentioned before.
- Obsidian & NAS Overhauls = It’s Spring Cleaning time, even for notes and files! As part of the Canon Forge project, I’m changing the way my second brain and other core systems work so they can accommodate the new workflows. Along the way, I’m scripting, templating, and documenting as much as I reasonably can so it doesn’t get this out of hand again. There’s a lot of cleanup here that I really should have done years ago, but it feels good to be re-tooling it all for today.
- TaikoFit = While my body is in decent shape these days, doing taiko at the level that I want demands more. To be ready for not just the music but the rigorous outdoor activities of this year’s Utah Taiko Experience in July, I need to start now. I’m using this as a means of focus for my daily exercise regimen, building the strength, flexibility, precision, and stamina that I’ll need to really enjoy and get the most of this event. Plus our local taiko group has some more performances coming up soon.
- Capoeira Music = Before the big taiko event in July, there are a couple small but important capoeira events in June. No, I’m not the one getting in the circle and doing cartwheels and kicks, I’m the music guy. And as such I need to be able to play several instruments while leading the group in traditional songs (in Portuguese) and keeping the energy strong. Though I’ve done some of this before, but I have a lot to learn! As a demonstration of the power of AI-assisted learning, I recently asked ChatGPT to give me a study plan for the next 6 weeks (which you can see here) and it did a fantastic job.
- Other events = Denise and I both have some local performances and workshops scheduled this this month as well. This is the small window where the weather is beautiful here in central Utah and there’s no shortage of things to keep us busy.
Thanks for checking in. Want to let me know what you’re up to? Got suggestions on what I might want to tackle in the future? Let me know here.
